Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen Goes Green With Dr. Gangrene

Nashville Filmmakers Receive Commendation From The Capitol

Nashville, TN (10.31.08) Dr. Gangrene, and the staff of WNAB CW 58's Creature Feature were honored by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen on Halloween morning in celebration of ten years on the air in Nashville.

The Governor recognized "Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature" and, the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign with the Governors Award Of Merit, “In recognition of 10 years of faithful service in the best interests and in the highest traditions of the state of Tennessee.”. Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood), Nurse Moan-Eek (Linda Wylie) along with filmmakers Cameron McCasland, Michael Creason and WNAB station Manager Michael Hook received honors for their work.

Dr Gangrene (Larry Underwood) was in perfect form for Halloween morning when he stated, "It's been my pleasure to provide chills to the Middle Tennessee area for over a decade, and it's a true honor to be recognized by the Governor's office. Happy Halloween!!"

New Valiant Productions worked with the office of the Governor on the seatbelt safety short "Bonehead", implementing Governor Bredesen's Click IT Or Ticket message against Tennessee drivers not using seat belts. Producer Michael Creason stated, "We want to thank Governor Phil Bredesen, John Reinbold and the Governors Highway Safety Office for allowing us to work with Click IT or Ticket, and for recognizing The Go Green With Dr. Green campaign with this honor. "

Tennessee's elected officials have taken notice of the Public Service shorts, as Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and Senator Lamar Alexander have both sent well wishes on the project. Director Cameron McCasland had this to say of their support. "I think this goes to show the bi-partisan efforts that all of our state leaders hold when it comes to environmental and safety issues. Everyone wants a safer cleaner Tennessee, and we're glad to have the support. And what better time than Halloween to honor Nashville's King of the Monsters, Dr. Gangrene"

2008 has been a banner year for Dr. Gangrene and Creature Feature. The newly implemented FACT-O-RAMA, (a technology that allows interesting factoids about the films to appear on screen during the movie.) has been a hit with viewers of Creature Feature. While the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" crusade has received numerous honors including the Environmental Sapphire Blingy, and AEGIS Finalist awards. The good Doctor has also been the guest of the Nashville Sounds for a ceremonial first pitch, and the Nashville Zoo, during their “Ghouls At Grassmere” event.

Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature will wrap up 2008 with the Network Television premiere of Mark Redfield's Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde at 1 p.m. on WNAB CW58 Nashville. The show will return to WNAB in February with brand new episodes with Dr Gangrene and Nurse Moan-Eek.
