Indie Rock finds home at Hermes Awards

Nashville, TN (05.04.09) Nashville based independent recording artists Numerics received The Golden Hermes Award for its debut music video “Precious Time.” The award winning video was directed by Cameron McCasland and produced by Michael Creason of New Valiant Productions.

Numerics is a collaboration of Memphis natives Parrish and Lloyd. Together they are making music that thrives in recorded formats and captivates listeners in live settings. Numerics concentrates on concise song arrangements, imaginative lyrics, and distinct tonal qualities.

Numerics' Lloyd said of the award, “We are glad to get a Hermes because it acknowledges forward thinking and the use of new media to connect with your audience. As a new band, the Internet is the best way for us to get the word out, and this is recognition that we're on the right track."

“Precious Time” was launched on the web in early April and climbed the myspace.com video charts into the top 40. The debut video is the first single from their upcoming album “Proud to Be a Numerican” which will be released in the summer of 2009.

“Precious Time” was begun in Memphis with experimental audio engineer Daniel Lynn. After tracking the album in Memphis, Numerics brought the project to Nashville, utilizing legendary Soundstage Studios and a close working relationship with expert mixing engineer Stephen Jones to complete “Proud to Be a Numerican.” The video for “Precious Time” was directed by Cameron McCasland and produced by Michael Creason in the band's home state of Tennessee along the music highway between Nashville and Memphis.

The Hermes Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition

Big win for Indie sensation Numerics

Nashville, TN (07.01.09) Winners for the 30th Annual Telly Awards were announced this week, and Nashville recording artists Numerics took home a statuette for their debut music video “Precious Time.” The video was directed by Cameron McCasland and produced by Michael Creason of New Valiant Productions.

Numerics is a collaboration between musicians Parrish & Lloyd. Parrish had this to say upon receiving the Telly, "This is really important to us. It's a prestigious award, and we are honored to get one. Fortunately, we worked with Cameron and Michael. They're quite talented.”

This is the second national award for Numerics, which earlier in the year picked up the Golden Hermes Award for “Precious Time,” the first single from their forthcoming album “Proud To Be A Numerican.” Numerics have announced this debut recording will be available September 1, 2009. To celebrate this Telly Award they have also released a new single. “Your Favorite Two” is available for listening at their website numericsband.com.
Video director Cameron McCasland said of Numerics, “Parrish & Lloyd have hit upon something special with 'Precious Time.' I think the video reflects their intensity as musicians and ambition as artists. I am proud to have been a part it.”

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding independent film and video productions. The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 states and numerous countries around the world.

Nashville, TN (01.15.08) - New Valiant Production proudly announces the music video for Fashionable by Quiet Company directed by Cameron McCasland and produced by Michael Creason has been accepted into the 41st Annual WorldFest competition in Houston Texas.

WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival continues with its totally dedicated Independent Film screening format for the upcoming April 18- 27, 2008 unspooling at the flagship AMC Studio 30 Dunvale Theaters.

Taylor Muse, of Quiet Company stated that “Fashionable is essentially about that point in all one sided relationships where one person realizes that life is too short. Lyrically its a contrast from most of the record in that "Shine Honesty" is largely about the hopefulness of love and its ability to withstand our shortcomings.”

Muse went on to say, “We had a great time making the video for Fashionable and I think the goal was to recreate our live show in an artistic way. Cameron was able to achieve that with ease and I think we captured the energy we needed.”

Upon the news of being accepted into Worldfest, director Cameron McCasland said “As a native Texan, I’m happy to see the video being played back in my home state. Quiet Company gave us a wonderful song to work with. My business partner Michael Creason and the New Valiant crew worked wonders making the shoot a pure joy. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Nashville, TN (02.24.08) New Valiant Production in association with Triburbana Entertainment premiered Venuzuela’s newest import Ron Castro, at its North American debut in Nashville, TN.

Ron Castro is a premium spirit created in Venuzuela’s Valleys of Aragua. It was awarded the Gold Medal at the 2006 International Review of Spirits conducted by the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago. The Rum was unveiled at party filled with some of Nashville’s most distinguished society members and business people.

Big Piano Sound gets big award in Jackson, MS.

Jackson, MS (04.06.08) - New Valiant Productions is proud to announce that “Fashionable - A Music Video For Quiet Company” has been awarded “Best Music Video” at the 2008 Crossroads Film Festival in Jackson, MS.

Producer Michael Creason, and Director Cameron McCasland were on hand to screen the video at the Regal UA Parkway Place Theater and fielded questions afterwards. “Fashionable” screened in the 5:00 p.m. block alongside “Lloyd Neck”, and “Of All The Things” which brought home the “Director’s Choice Award”.

Later in the evening Festival Director Herman Snell presented McCasland with the award for “Best Music Video” on behalf of the Crossroads Film Society, and Mississippi Film Commission, at an awards ceremony at Hal & Mals Restaurant & Brewery. After the ceremony, McCasland stated “Michael Creason and I are honored that the people of Mississippi have given us this award, and shown us such incredible hospitality this week. We would like to thank Herman Snell, and the Crossroads Film Society, Mississippi Film Commission, as well as Governor Haley Barbour for welcoming us to their great state. We would also like to thank Quiet Company for creating a wonderful song and album, and supporting us in our adventures together. Most of all, we want to send love and gratitude to our families who give us inspiration daily.”

The physical award was designed by Rob Cooper and constructed from multiple layers of glass that are cast in a handmade mold and are later sand carved for text. Rob’s work can be viewed at the Attic Gallery in Vicksburg, MS as well as the annual art shows at Pearl River Glass Studio.

Nashville Filmmakers Fight Littering With Mad Science

When asked about what brought this project together director Cameron McCasland stated, “This is our attempt to think globally and act locally. I think most people know they should be doing something to help make a cleaner planet, but have no clue where to start. As filmmakers, we wanted to provide information to viewers, while being entertaining. We tried to blend both the horror and comedy themes that Dr. Gangrene and Nurse Moan-Eek are known for while educating people on simple tasks that are good for the planet as a whole. The Creature Feature crew was responsive to our ideas for Going Green With Dr. Gangrene and it was a lot of fun using a zombie apocalypse as a metaphor for saving the planet.”

The initial rollout includes three shorts titled “Bonehead” which tells the importance of safety belts. “Two Lane Trash Stop” that explains the dangers of highway litter. And “Trash Day Of The Dead” a tongue in cheek commentary on the evils of litter, set in downtown Nashville, TN. All three were produced locally in Nashville by Michael Creason, and directed by Cameron McCasland. They follow Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood) and Nurse Moan-Eek (portrayed by Linda Wylie) as they remind us to pick up our litter, as well as buckling up for safety. Later this month a new website www.gogreencrusade.com will launch with tips from the good doctor on how to stay safe and help protect the planet. And more short subjects will follow in coming months.

Nashville, TN (09.01.08) Nashville Horror Host Dr. Gangrene will celebrate ten years on the air with the new season of Creature Feature that begins airing Saturday September 6, 2008 on WNAB CW58 Nashville.

A staple of local programming in Nashville, TN, Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood) has reinvented his program from a 30 minute public access television show to a two hour network bonanza showcasing classic and not so classic films.

The New season of Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature has some surprises in store. Movies will now be broadcast with FACT-O-RAMA, a technology that allows interesting factoids about the films to appear on screen during the movie. This running commentary will bring new life to films you may have seen dozens of times before, or add substance for first time viewers.

Nashville Filmmakers Receive Commendation From The Capitol

The Governor recognized "Dr. Gangrene's Creature Feature" and, the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign with the Governors Award Of Merit, “In recognition of 10 years of faithful service in the best interests and in the highest traditions of the state of Tennessee.”. Dr. Gangrene (Larry Underwood), Nurse Moan-Eek (Linda Wylie) along with filmmakers Cameron McCasland, Michael Creason and WNAB station Manager Michael Hook received honors for their work.

Nashville, TN (01.09.09) The Metro City Council Of Nashville and Davidson County passed Resolution NO. RS2009-600 on Tuesday January 6th recognizing the contributions of The Go Green With Dr. Gangrene campaign, New Valiant Productions, and WNAB CW 58 Creature Feature for their faithful service in the best interest of the City of Nashville Tennessee and Davidson County. The Resolution was approved by Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and signed under law on the following day.

The Resolution was sponsored by District 28 Councilman Duane Dominy, who had screened the short "Trash Day Of The Dead" at December Town Hall Meeting in Nashville.

Director Cameron McCasland said of the Resolution, "Everyone who worked on this project is excited to have the city get behind the idea of Going Green With Dr. Gangrene. Councilman Dominy shares our concerns on keeping the city clean, and we thank him as well as the entire Metro Council and Mayor Dean for recognizing our efforts."

A formal presentation of the Resolution will be made to Cameron McCasland, Michael Creason, Larry Underwood & Linda Wylie at a February City Council meeting. The meeting is open to the public, and will also be aired on Metro Channel 3.

Nashville, TN (02.05.09) The Go Green With Dr. Gangrene campaign, was formally recognized earlier this week by the City Council of Nashville & Davidson County. Councilman Duane Dominy sponsored Resolution NO. RS2009-600, and presented Larry Underwood, Linda Wylie, Cameron McCasland, and Michael Creason with copies of the Resolution.

New Valiant Productions Cameron McCasland was on hand with Larry Underwood and Linda Wylie for the honors. Larry Underwood addressed the City Council, and thanked them for giving attention to the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign. Underwood stated, "I grew up a Nashvillian, I was born and raised here. I grew up watching Sir Cecil Creape, and Creature Feature, and Its just been a huge honor to follow in his footsteps to provide entertainment for Nashville, and then to take that entertainment and use it in an environmentally conscience way for littering and our Go Green campaign."

Members of the City Council, and the chamber gave a standing ovation followed by a round of hearty handshakes for the film makers. After the meeting Cameron McCasland stated. "Again we are so thankful to the City Council and Duane Dominy for helping bring awareness to the Go Green campaign. We are glad to see that this message has hit home with the citizens of Nashville."

Nashville, TN (02.15.09) New Valiant film makers Cameron McCasland and Michael Creason have been nominated alongside Larry Underwood and Linda Wylie for the 2008 Monster Kid Of The Year at the Seventh Annual Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards for their work on the "Go Green With Dr. Gangrene" campaign.

The fan voted event is sponsored by The Classic Horror Film Board and administered by USA TODAY front page editor David Colton, and a panel of professionals in the film and publishing industries. The "Monster Kid Of The Year" is a special (write in only) award given to the person who most "helped keep classic monsters alive" in the preceding year.

The New Valiant Crew was nominated by two time Rondo Award winner, and Disney Animator Frank Dietz. Dietz said of the project, "Talk about using classic horror to improve the world! Their PSA has brought attention to the genre by providing an important message about cleaning up our ailing planet. It was a brilliant idea, executed perfectly. It makes the classic horror community look good. I'm proud of them all for this important achievement."

Trash Day Of The Dead writer & director Cameron McCasland was happy to hear of the nomination. He stated, "I am amazed to see the outpouring of affection for this project. I adore classic horror movies, like Frankenstein and the Wolfman. To be nominated for the Rondo Award is about the biggest honor we could receive, as the people who vote for them are truly the keepers to the kingdom on all things to do with classic monsters. Our vision of the project was to get a modern message through in the form of something that looked like an old horror movie. I'm glad it connected with Rondo voters, as they truly make this a better world of gods and monsters."

Larry Underwood also picked up his second nomination for "Best Horror Host" for his portrayal of Dr. Gangrene on WNAB CW58's Creature Feature which just celebrated its tenth year on the air. He also picked up his fifth nomination for "Best Fan Event" for his Wonderfest Live Show. Nashville Rockers, The Creeping Cruds picked up a nomination for 'Best CD" for their album Tennessee Blood Bath. Dr. Gangrene featured the Cruds on his show with their music video for "Come Out Neville" live from the Horror Hootenanny which was shot by McCasland, and Edited by Larry Underwood.
